How to Create a Custom Course and Upload Your Own Videos

Adding your own custom videos is a great way to tailor your training to your organization's specific needs. You can easily upload your own content by either creating a brand new training course from scratch or editing an existing one.

Here is how to get started.

Step 1: Set Up Your Custom Course

You have two options for setting up a custom training course: creating a new one from scratch or modifying a course that already exists in your library.

Option A: Create a Custom Course from Scratch

  1. Navigate to the Training tab on the left-hand menu, and the All Courses sub-tab.
  2. Click on the Library tab at the top of the screen.
  3. Scroll to the very bottom of the page and click Create Custom Course.

Option B: Copy and Edit an Existing Course

  1. Browse your library and click on an existing training you'd like to use as a template.
  2. Inside the training, click the 3 dots located in the top right corner.
  3. Select Copy and Edit from the dropdown menu.

Step 2: Upload Your Video

Once you are inside your new or copied custom course, you can upload your video file:

  • Select Upload Video.

  • Either drag and drop your file into the designated area or click to browse your computer and select the file.
  • Wait for the video to finish uploading.

Note: Upload times will vary depending on the file size and your internet connection speed.

Video Requirements & Best Practices

To ensure your video plays perfectly for all users, your file must meet the following technical requirements:

  • File Type: MP4 (Required)
  • Codec: h.264/AVC (Required)
  • Bitrate: 5,000–8,000 kbps (Required)
  • Maximum File Size: 150 MB
  • Resolution: Between 640px and 3840px wide
  • Framerate: Constant, 15–60 frames per second
  • Aspect Ratio: Any ratio is accepted (wider ratios generally yield higher quality)

Best Practice Tip: We highly recommend keeping individual video lengths to 2 to 3 minutes. If you have a longer presentation, please split the video into shorter, digestible parts or chapters to improve viewer retention and engagement.
